Berghaus started in 1966 as a clothing and equipment specialist outdoors in Newcastle-Upon-Tyne. Originally run by two friends, the store was originally called LD Mountain Centre and was the first to import the best of innovation and technology to foreign outdoors to meet the growing demands of climbers and mountaineers British.
The two friends chose a new name, Berghaus – German for “Centre of the mountain” – and one of the leading outdoor brands in the world was born.
