Manish Malhotra started his career in 1990 as a costume designer in the Indian film industry , popularly known as Bollywood. Having won the first Filmlfare Costume Design Award in 1995 for the movie Rangeela and style for more than 1,000 films , Manish Malhotra and has redefined Indian Cinema contemporized costumes and still winning many prestigious awards to date.
Manish Malhotra as the label has also collaborated with the Mijwan welfare society that works to raise the ship and transform the lives of women in Mijwan , a small town in Uttar Pradesh famous for its intricate hand drawn Chikankari . Another important collaboration has been the work of the artisans of Kashmir with Kashmir thread and zari work – an art form that is now synonymous with his record label.
The brand has undergone a metamorphosis in the last 5 years to highlight the craftsmanship and explore different avenues. Today, the brand is growing on average 30% each year. The last two years have been for open road – with exquisite design , two-story store spread across 6000 sq ft in Mumbai and a store of 9,000 square feet in a Haveli marking its first independent presence in Delhi. Beginning the year with the Luxe collection Manish Malhotra showcased a new facet of his design sensibility .
